CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio — Cleveland Heights police were called to investigate shots fired in the area of Harvey and Staunton Roads in the early morning hours on Saturday.

A caller told police that several shots were heard and a car drove away.

When police got to the location, they found several dozen spent bullet casings in the street on Harvey Road just north of Staunton Road.

A car in the driveway also had bullet holes. At least 38 bullet casings were found.

Police entered the apartment building to make sure that no one was hurt.

The apartment where the shots were fired into was empty.

Police were told later that many of the bullets were fired into the bedroom of a 17-year-old boy who was not home at the time.

On Sunday, police were again called to Harvey Road for a report of a racial slur spray painted on the road.

A resident of the area told police that his 12-year-old son saw a male the night before with a spray paint can.

The graffiti was quickly removed by the city.

Police continue to investigate both incidents and are not sure if they are related.

Patrols have increased in the area.

Police ask residents to contact them immediately if anyone sees any suspicious activity in their neighborhood.
