PAINESVILLE, Ohio — Earlier this week, the Painesville Police Department arrested a Cleveland man for kidnapping a female victim.
At approximately 1:52 p.m. on Monday, January 9, the Painesville Police Department responded to a call about a fight on the 90 block of Richmond Street.
Lake County Sheriff's Office deputies were in the area when the fight complaint was made and were able to detain several parties until Painesville police officers arrived.
An initial investigation of the incident revealed that a female victim was assaulted inside her vehicle by 29-year-old Cleveland resident Paul A. Wyatt. Officers say Wyatt then left the first victim and approached a second female walking at the intersection of East Jackson Street and Richmond Street.
Wyatt allegedly grabbed the second victim and forced her across the street against her will. Several witnesses to the incident intervened and police say the suspect let go of the second victim, causing him to attempt leaving the scene.
Wyatt was arrested for kidnapping the second victim, a first-degree felony according to the Painesville Police Department. He was transported to the Lake County Jail.
The investigation of this incident is ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any additional information is asked to contact the Painesville Police Department at 440-392-5839.
