CLEVELAND — A Cleveland man and woman are facing homicide charges following the death of a 7-year-old boy this past weekend.
Bryan Irby, 28, and Chartika Mock, 27, are both charged with involuntary manslaughter after police say young Demetrius Dunlap got access to a gun and fatally shot himself inside the pair's shared West 30th Street home. Authorities have not specified the Irby and Mock's relationship to Dunlap, nor have they said if the two are currently in custody.
Demetrius was pronounced dead after being rushed to MetroHealth Medical Center. The Cleveland Metropolitan School District later confirmed he had been a first-grader at Luis Munoz Marin School.
The Cleveland Municipal Court approved arrest warrants for Irby and Mock on Tuesday. Records show both are charged with first-degree felonies, meaning each could face more than a decade in prison, if convicted.
