Cleveland mom faces judge on child endangering charge weeks after infant son's death

Authorities said a preliminary toxicology screening found fentanyl in the infant’s system.

CLEVELAND — Bond was continued at $50,000 for Casey Bisner, a Cleveland mother who faced a judge Tuesday morning on a charge of child endangering a month after her 15-month-old son was found dead.

Her attorney had asked for her initial bond to be reduced to $10,000 at 10 percent prior to the judge's decision.

“The $50,000 bond that currently exists is essentially a no bond," her attorney told the judge. "She’s been in jail for a month. The family does not have that kind of resources. There’s no universe where she’s able to make the $50,000.”

Bisner, who has pleaded not guilty, is due back in court for a pretrial hearing on March 1 at 9:30 a.m.

The child, identified as Ricardo Johnson, was found on Jan. 14 at a home in the 2000 block of West 103rd Street. Bisner had reportedly waved down emergency responders who were on their way to an unrelated situation to report her son was unconscious.
