CLEVELAND — A Cleveland mother has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after police say they found her 2-year-old son dead inside her home.

Cleveland Police say the incident happened around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6, near the 6900 block of Anita Kennedy Avenue. Officers were called to assist the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority Police Department, who originally received the call for the child.

Cleveland EMS pronounced the boy dead at the scene.

The boy's mother — 33-year-old Niesha Walls — has been arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter.

In the arrest report, Cleveland police alleged Walls caused her son's death by "committing the criminal offense of endangering children."

Walls was arraigned on Thursday, Aug. 15 where her bond was set at $100,000.

A preliminary hearing has been set for Friday, Aug. 23.
