CLEVELAND — Cleveland police are currently investigating a shooting they believe is "possibly connected" to this past weekend's street takeovers that rattled the city.

According to authorities, the incident took place at around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, when members of law enforcement were dispatched to the 6800 block of Broadway Avenue in Slavic Village. Officers found one man shot before also learning a second man — a 20-year-old — had suffered bullet wounds, as well.

At this time, police have not indicated how the shooting might be connected to the takeovers, and none of the incidents that took place overnight Saturday into Sunday were in the direct Broadway Avenue area. During a meeting Wednesday with the Cleveland City Council Safety Committee, Chief Annie Todd said arrest warrants had been issued in connection with the street raids and detailed how suspects allegedly pointed weapons at people and fired at officers with airsoft guns, but did not mention anyone being hit by actual gunfire.

Anyone with information on possible suspects in the Slavic Village shooting is asked to immediately call Cleveland Division of Police Detective Timothy Hannon at (216) 623-5218.
