CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Division of Police is investigating the fatal shooting of a man on the city's west side on Monday evening.
The shooting took place in the 3700 block of West 39th Street. Police say the victim suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the back. The man was pronounced dead at the scene just after 10 p.m.
The incident is now under investigation by the Cleveland Division of Police's Homicide Division. Preliminary information has revealed that the victim was hanging out in the area of West 39th and Denison when he was shot.
After the shooting scene was cleared, police say a large crowd gathered at the convenience store at West 38th and Denison. A large fight broke out and a man was beaten. As officers responded to the fight, they arrested the man who was beaten for the earlier shooting death.
The name of the suspect has not yet been released.
