Cleveland Police: 2 men shot, one dead near gas station on city's east side

The shooting happened at the HP station at Kinsman and East 139th Street.

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one man dead and another injured outside of a gas station, Monday morning. 

Police responded to HP station on East 139th and Kinsman Road around 10:00 a.m. for a male shot. 

At the scene, 22-year-old Abraham Penn was found lying in the street and 27-year-old Anthony Pruitt III was found with a gunshot wound to the leg in the parking lot of the gas station. 

Penn was pronounced dead at the scene. Pruitt was transported to University Hospitals, where he remains in custody. His condition is unknown at this time. 

Penn and Pruitt were involved in a physical altercation outside of the gas station prior to the shooting. Penn pulled out a gun and shot Pruitt in the leg, and then dropped a gun on the ground. Pruitt then picked up the gun and fired at Penn multiple times.
