An 18-year-old Cleveland man has officially been charged in the death of his grandmother and the stabbings of three child relatives.
A Cuyahoga County grand indicted Jalen L. Plummer on Monday of nine counts in total, including aggravated murder, attempted murder, and felonious assault. He is currently being held at the Cuyahoga County Jail on $2 million bond.
Authorities say Plummer entered his grandmother Diane Madison's Chickasaw Ave. home just after midnight on June 22 and immediately began stabbing two 10-year-old girls. The children suffered multiple injuries but were able to escape and call 911 at a neighbor's house.
Plummer was apparently hiding in the shower when police came to arrest him, and Diane Madison was pronounced dead at the scene. Along with the young girls, a 12-year-old boy was also injured, and all children were taken to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital.
Further investigation revealed Diane was the mother of convicted serial killer Michael Madison, currently on death row for the murders of three East Cleveland women. The children injured in the stabbing were also her grandchildren, although their exact familial relationships to either Plummer or Michael Madison are not known at this time.
The incident remains under investigation. Prosecutors have not yet specified whether or not they plan to seek the death penalty against Plummer.
