Cleveland woman fatally shot as neighbors argue over dogs

An 80-year-old man has been arrested.

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Division of Police is investigating after a woman was fatally shot on Monday during an apparent argument over dogs.

Police were called to the 9000 block of Gorman Avenue on Monday afternoon to help Cleveland Animal Control Officers.

The Animal Control Officers told police that a woman had been shot.

When police arrived, they found 68-year-old Barbara Rogers down on the front lawn of the Gorman Avenue address.

Rogers was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased.

Neighbors told police that the victim and 80-year-old male suspect are neighbors.

The male was apparently arguing with another neighbor in his yard about each other's dogs.

Rogers attempted to intervene and the suspect pulled out a gun and according to police, shot her several times.

After the male allegedly shot Rogers, he walked into his home.

Police arrested the male and the Cleveland police homicide unit is investigating. The suspect has not yet been identified.
