CLEVELAND — Members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) have arrested a man and woman who were wanted for a murder that took place outside of a Cleveland apartment in August.
According to the U.S. Marshals Service, My’Laisa Cordee Addison and Christian Michael Kendricks were located and arrested on Tuesday morning. The couple was wanted by the Cleveland Division of Police for aggravated murder.
The arrests of Addison and Kendricks stem from an incident that occurred on August 20, when, according to police, the 20-year-old Addison was engaged in a physical altercation over money with a female outside of an apartment near the 3900 block of E. 176th Street. After seeing the females fighting, 28-year-old Cardell Hawthorne of Cleveland attempted to break up the altercation.
Addison's boyfriend, the 21-year-old Kendricks, proceeded to exit his vehicle, which was occupied with two small children, and shot Hawthorne several times, ultimately killing him. After removing the two children from the vehicle, Addison and Kendricks then fled the scene on foot.
When task force members knocked and announced their presence at the front door of an apartment near the 7400 block of Garden Valley in Cleveland on Tuesday, Kendricks attempted to flee out of a bedroom window. Task force members proceeded to safely arrest both Addison and Kendricks before turning them over to the Cleveland Division of Police for processing.
"The Cleveland Division of Police is one of the strongest partners with the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force and we will continue to work together to take violent fugitives, like this couple, off the street," U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said in a statement.
