AKRON, Ohio — Coy Oswalt, a 36-year-old Akron man, has died after he was stabbed in the neck during an altercation at an apartment complex on Saturday.
The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office reported details of Oswalt’s death in a press release early Tuesday morning. It was around 1 p.m. when Oswalt was allegedly involved in an altercation at an apartment complex on East Tallmadge Avenue, according to officials.
Authorities say Oswalt was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead at 1:34 p.m. An autopsy has been completed and the cause of death has been ruled a homicide from a stab wound to the neck.
Akron police confirm a 30-year-old suspect identified as Aaron Roberts-Byrd was arrested outside the building, and a knife was also allegedly found in the area. He is currently being held in the Summit County Jail on charges of murder and felonious assault.
