Cuyahoga Falls police are continuing to investigate the case of a 44-year-old female caregiver who was arrested over the weekend and charged with endangering the life of a young infant.
Last Saturday evening, police received a call from a person who had video of an infant being abused by a caregiver. The video shows the caregiver using an open hand to cover the infant's nose and mouth area in attempts to silence the crying baby.
Officers began investigating and found that the incident may have occurred over 6 months ago. The caregiver was identified as Faith Boltz, who was babysitting the infant in her home at the time of the incident.
The parents of the infant were identified and contacted. They signed charges against Boltz for Child Endangering. Summit County Child Services was contacted and notified of this incident as well.
Boltz was arrested on Sunday and held in the Cuyahoga Falls City Jail until she was arraigned in Stow Municipal Court on Monday. Boltz was given a $1,000 PR bond with the condition that she has no contact with the victim or any other handicapped or minor children.
Police say additional charges may be filed at a later date as the investigation is still ongoing. A pre-trial hearing is set for July 6, with a trial slated to start on July 23.
Anyone with information regarding this investigation is encouraged to contact the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department Detective Bureau at 330-971-8334 or information can be provided anonymously on the CFPD Tip line at 330-971-8477 (TIPS).
