CHESTERLAND, Ohio — Police in Geauga County were surprised to see three cars driving down the road at high speeds, only to find out they were stolen from a local dealership.
With lights and sirens, Chesterland police were on a chase in the early morning hours of Monday.
On the dashcam video, you can hear the police chatter. "We just spotted the car with a male in it."
The vehicles were stolen from inside the Junction Auto Family dealership on Mayfield Road (U.S. Route 322) in Munson. The thieves drove the three cars right out the front door.
You can hear the police cruiser's engine in high gear racing down the road. But there was no way any of the suspect drivers would be caught. They exceeded speeds of 100 miles per hour, causing Chesterland officers to call off the chase.
The three stolen vehicles were a white Dodge Challenger Scatpack, a granite Dodge Challenger Hellcat, and a Jeep Cherokee Trackhawk. Junction Auto Family tells 3News that there are cameras all around the showroom. Police are now in possession of that video.
An additional business on U.S. Route 322 and State Route 44 also captured the speed demons on video, but are waiting to release the footage to police.
The Geauga County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident. They are analyzing the footage from inside the Junction Auto Family dealership in hopes to figure out who stole the three vehicles.
