ELYRIA, Ohio — An Elyria man was arrested and charged after allegedly stabbing his roommate's dog.
According to the Elyria Police Department, officers responded to 247 16th Street on Monday, Oct. 10 for an animal complaint. Upon arrival, the complainant told officers that a roommate who was later identified as 24-year-old Andre Williams, had attacked their dog after Williams learned that the dog may have bit his son.
Officers discovered a dog who was suffering from stab wounds. Williams admitted to officers that he had stabbed the dog in what he called a "fit of rage."
The dog was transported to an emergency veterinarian hospital but later died after succumbing to its injuries.
Williams was arrested and initially charged with a second-degree misdemeanor of Cruelty to Animals. His charge will be upgraded to a felony following the dog's death.
