ELYRIA, Ohio β The Elyria Police Department took seven people into custody after following a suspect with a warrant into a house on Kenyon Avenue.
In a post on Facebook, Elyria police say two of its officers observed Brandon Sherrill run into a house on Saturday. Sherrill had an outstanding arrest warrant. Police spoke to the leased tenant, Michael Major, who gave the officers permission to enter the residence.
Sherrill was found hiding beneath the basement stairs. But as officers continued their search, they discovered several other people in hiding.
One suspect, Stephanie Price, was hiding in the attic. Another suspect, Michael McClosky, tried to hide in the clothes dryer. Suspect Jason Smith attempted to bury himself underneath blankets in the basement.
Autumn Eggers was taken into custody for having outstanding arrest warrants. Ean King was changed with felony possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine. Major was changed with permitting drug abuse in the home and possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
In all, officers seized fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, xanax, hypodermic syringes, and other drug paraphernalia inside the Kenyon Avenue house.
"The Elyria Police Department believes the arrest of these individuals has made the Eastern Heights Neighborhood and the community a safer place," the department added in its post.
