CLEVELAND — Devin Hall and Dyneshia Anderson, the Euclid couple who pleaded guilty for their part in the 2022 death of 4-year-old Musiah Wadud, were both sentenced to prison by Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge John Sutula on Tuesday.

Anderson, Musiah's aunt, was sentenced to life in prison after previously pleading guilty to murder, felonious assault, and endangering children. She will be eligible for parole after serving 18 years behind bars.

Hall, who pleaded guilty to one count of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of endangering children, was sentenced to 20.5 years in prison.

CASE BACKGROUND

On May 5, 2022, Euclid police responded to a home in the 1400 block of East 260th Street for a report of an unresponsive child. Musiah Wadud was later pronounced dead at the emergency room of University Hospitals Richmond Medical Center.

Three other young children were removed from the home by Cuyahoga County’s Department of Child and Family Services. One child required hospitalization.

According to the autopsy report, Musiah sustained blunt impacts to his head, neck, trunk, and extremities with brain, liver, skeletal, and soft tissue injuries.

Euclid police said Hall and Anderson were both part of the household.

According to the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court, Musiah was committed to the legal custody of Anderson, his paternal aunt, in November of 2021. His paternal grandmother had filed for companionship/visitation time, which was set for trial on June 7, 2022.

Anderson and Hall, her boyfriend, were arrested on May 11, 2022 by the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force in Cleveland. The arrest came on the same day that the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner ruled that the death of Musiah was a homicide.
