Euclid police arrest suspect in fatal shooting of Glenville student-athlete Te'Vion Cunningham

22-year-old Meon'te Robinson is charged with aggravated murder in connection with the death of Cunningham, who played football and basketball for the Tarblooders.

EUCLID, Ohio — Police have made an arrest in connection with the death of a 17-year-old student-athlete from Cleveland's Glenville High School.

Authorities in Euclid confirm 22-year-old Meon'te Robinson was taken into custody this past Monday. The Cleveland native is charged with aggravated murder for the fatal shooting of Te'Vion Cunningham nearly two weeks ago.

According to officials, Cunningham was found unconscious on Seabrooke Avenue back on Jan. 5, and the teen later died at a local hospital. While the incident occurred near Te'Vion's Euclid home, he played both football and basketball for Glenville, making him a member of the Tarblooders' state championship football squad.

"Te’Vion was an exceptional individual who brought so much joy, love, and positivity into our lives. Their presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing them," the school wrote on its football and basketball Instagram accounts following Cunningham's passing. "In this time of profound grief, let us come together to support one another. Our thoughts and prayers are with Te’vions family and friends who are experiencing unimaginable sorrow."

Euclid police immediately began an investigation with the assistance of the Cleveland Division of Police as well as the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force. While the exact circumstances that led up to Cunningham's killing are not known at this time, detectives are still looking into the case and have not ruled out the possibility of additional suspects.

Per authorities, Robinson appeared in Euclid Municipal Court on Thursday and was issued a $1 million bond. He is currently being held in the Cuyahoga County Jail.
