FAIRVIEW PARK, Ohio — Three teen boys – ages 14 to 16 – surrendered to Fairview Park police following an alleged incident involving a stolen vehicle early Thursday morning.
Police say it was around 4:55 a.m. when an officer on patrol “observed males dressed in black running among parked cars in the parking lot” at the 200 West Apartments in the 20200 block of Lorain Road.
That’s when police say the males jumped into a 2014 Ford Explorer and drove off “at a high rate of speed without any lights on.” The vehicle’s license plate, according to police, indicated the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Cleveland.
When the officer activated his cruiser’s lights, police say the vehicle refused to stop. It later struck a tire deflation device that was deployed by the Rocky River Police Department as they entered I-90 East near Hilliard.
The pursuit came to an end when police say the vehicle pulled over at the Warren Road exit when a passenger-side tire came off.
It was at this point that three teens exited the vehicle and surrendered to officers at the scene. One is 14 years old, while the other two are 16.
A fourth suspect, however, allegedly drove off in the vehicle.
The case is being forwarded to the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court to determine what criminal charges will be filed.
