CLEVELAND -- The FBI says that, through tips generated from the Nov. 12 publicity campaign, the FBI has identified 'John Doe 27" and located him "in the Midwest region of the USA."
"As of this time, no arrest warrants have been issued or served. Based upon the progress of this investigation, the FBI has determined that no additional publicity of these images is necessary. No further comments will be made as the investigation remains ongoing, however the FBI wishes to express its gratitude to the public for their vigilance and assistance in this case," the FBI said in a statement.
On Tuesday, the FBI said it was looking for an unknown male suspected of sexually exploiting a child.
Photographs and informational posters depicting the unknown individual, known only as John Doe 27, are being disseminated to the public.
Initial images and videos of the unidentified adult male, John Doe 27, being photographed while engaging in sexually explicit activities with a child were first recorded by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in April of 2013.
They are still being circulated in numerous child pornography forums across the Internet. Investigators for the FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children have successfully enhanced a number of photos depicting John Doe 27 and believe there are several clues which may assist with the identification of the subject.
For example, images depict the subject and the victim inside a residence with a distinct plaid chair.
John Doe 27 is described as a white male, likely between the ages of 40 and 50, with brown hair, graying sideburns, and a bald spot. He wears glasses and a ring on the ring finger of his right hand.
Based on audio taken from video files associated with this individual, it appears as though he speaks with a southern accent and refers to himself as "Jimmy."
