SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Two people have been arrested amid felonious assault allegations involving a 1-year-old girl at the Red Roof Inn in the 2900 block of South Arlington Road in Summit County.

In details released Monday morning, Springfield Township police say officers responded to a 911 call reporting the unresponsive child around 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 22.

Upon their arrival at the scene, officers reportedly found the infant on the bed in the hotel room unresponsive and not breathing.

After officers began CPR, police say the girl regained a pulse and began breathing.

“However, the infant showed signs of severe trauma, including extensive bruising, and was found to be in critical condition,” according to a press release from police.

The girl was then taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The two suspects -- who are both from New York -- face the following charges:

  • 37-year-old Jason Santos (infant’s father): Felonious assault, endangering children and obstructing official business.
  • 36-year-old Jamilee Hunt (Santos’ girlfriend): Endangering children and obstructing official business.

Both suspects are currently being held in the Summit County Jail.

“The Springfield Township Police Department is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this case,” according to a press release. “As this is an ongoing investigation, further details will be released as they become available.”
