AKRON, Ohio — A Macedonia man has been sentenced to life in prison for a litany of sex crimes committed against multiple young girls.
William Lupica, 72, previously pleaded guilty last month to two counts of rape as well as a combined total of 11 lesser charges of gross sexual imposition, pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, and illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material. On Tuesday, Summit County Common Pleas Judge Joy Oldfield handed down Lupica's punishment and ruled he not be eligible for parole for 30 years, when he would be 102 years of age.

According to prosecutors, Lupica and his wife ran a home day care service out of their Macedonia home, and it was in this capacity where Lupica committed his crimes. An initial complaint filed in Stow Municipal Court accused Lupica of sexually assaulting a 3-year-old girl in either 2018 or 2019.
Lupica was arrested this past May and eventually indicted for raping two girls under the age of 13. Authorities later found hundreds of images of child pornography in Lupica's possession, with many showing the defendant molesting several children.
Should he somehow be released from prison before his death, Lupica would be required to registered as a Tier III sex offender every 90 days for the remainder of his life.
