CLEVELAND — A man is dead and a woman is currently in the hospital following a shooting on Cleveland's east side early Saturday morning.
Witnesses told police "multiple" people shot off multiple rounds at parked cars near the intersection of East 55th Street and Central Avenue around 1:17 p.m. Roughly 50 bullets were fired, with a 36-year-old male being struck in the head and a 26-year-old female being hit in her body.
The man was pronounced dead at MetroHealth Medical Center, while the woman remains confined at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. Her exact condition is unknown.
The incident was one of five shootings to take place within the city overnight, all on the east side. Five additional men ranging in age from 22-53 were injured, including a 30-year-old who was shot in the head and a 28-year-old who had to be airlifted to Metro.
No arrests have been made at this time. An investigation is under way.
