AKRON, Ohio — A 64-year-old man is dead after being struck by a passing car Friday night in Akron.
Police say the victim was attempting to cross South Arlington Street near the East Exchange Street intersection when what was believed to be a gray vehicle hit him while headed southbound. The suspect then continued on without stopping.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released.
Authorities are working to identify the driver of the vehicle involved. They believe the suspect was illegally speeding at the time of the fatal collision.
