MAPLE HEIGHTS, Ohio — Maple Heights Police are investigating an incident in which a man was fatally shot on Tuesday morning.
According to police, officers were in the area of Clare Avenue and Warrensville Center Road investigating a complaint when they were told by several witnesses they had heard gunshots and then saw two persons running from the area. Officers proceeded to locate a male gunshot victim in the area of 20125 Clare Avenue.
The two people fleeing were going westbound on Clare Avenue. They were described as an older male wearing a gray hoodie and black pants, and possibly a female, who was wearing a black jacket (possibly with a hood) and blue jeans.
The victim was transported to Metro Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. He has since been identified as 52-year-old Antonio Brown of Cleveland.
A preliminary investigation has indicated that the male victim may have been involved in an altercation at the Marathon gas station, located at the intersection of Warrensville Center Road and Maple Heights Boulevard, shortly before he was shot. An investigation by the Maple Heights Police Department remains underway.
