'Despondent' man injured after being shot by CMHA police officer in Cleveland

The man is in stable condition at MetroHealth Medical Center.

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Division of Police and the Cleveland Metro Housing Authority (CMHA) Police are investigating after a man was shot by an officer of the CMHA on Tuesday. 

The incident happened on Tuesday afternoon at the Y-Haven Residential Program located in Stokes Mall. Officers of the CMHA Police Department responded to a call from a Y-Haven employee about a despondent male who was threatening a staff member. 

After the shooting took place, Cleveland EMS transported the man to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he is in stable condition.
