AKRON, Ohio — A 44-year-old man is facing life in prison for his role in the death of former Akron bank vice president Jaclyn Hilder.
On Tuesday, Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh announced that 44-year-old Muziwokuthula Madonda has pled guilty to the murder of Hilder and was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 33 years.
“We are all relieved that this criminal will never be on the streets again. After waiting for eleven long years, I hope Jaclyn’s family now has some closure and can begin to heal, knowing this man will not hurt anyone else,” Walsh said in a statement.
In February 2011, Madonda, who knew Hilder's boyfriend, went to her home thinking she would have a large sum of money due to her occupation. Police say Madonda had plans to use the money to to fund his trip to Montgomery County to kill and steal the identity of another man he knew from college.
Madonda plead guilty to the following charges:
- Aggravated Murder (Agg Robbery) w/Gun Spec.
- Aggravated Robbery w/Gun Spec
- Aggravated Burglary w/Gun
Madondo is already serving a 24-year sentence in New Mexico as a result of two murders he committed there while on the run from the Akron death. The 33-year sentence in Summit County will run consecutive to his New Mexico sentence. Madonda is also set to be transferred to Montgomery County to face an Aggravated Murder charge.
