The Lorain Police Department is investigating today after one man was shot and killed outside of a nightclub early Sunday morning.
According to police, the incident happened around 1:30 a.m. when officers heard shots outside of Club Our Space (201 East 29th Street) and located one male who had been injured in the shooting. Officers immediately began administering first aid until paramedics were able to arrive on the scene.
An initial investigation found that security officers hired by the club were attempting to remove a woman from the venue, and once outside, found a man brandishing a firearm.
The man was allegedly told by the club's security officers repeatedly to drop his weapon, but refused to obey. The officers told police that's when the man then aimed the gun at them, causing one of the security officers to retrieve their own weapon and fire at the male.
The man, who has since been identified as 32-year-old Marlo Sanford, was taken to Mercy Hospital but succumbed to his wounds shortly after arrival.
This incident remains under investigation at this time.
