CLEVELAND — A man who was wanted by nine Northeast Ohio law enforcement agencies for an "escalating" string of alleged thefts was arrested on Thursday, the U.S. Marshals Service announced.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested 23-year-old Naytez Wright after finding him hiding in an attic in Cleveland after a "lengthy search," according to a news release. Wright had been charged with obstructing police, assault, theft and fleeing in connection to multiple alleged "thefts and fleeing from apprehension" across the Cleveland area, the Marshals Service said.
Wright had warrants from the sheriff's offices of Cuyahoga and Geauga County as well as police departments in Cleveland, Independence, North Olmsted, Highland Heights, Mayfield Heights, Solon and Bainbridge, in addition to the U.S. Marshals.
“Our task force worked this case relentlessly to get this violent offender off the streets," U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said. "This was a great effort from all our partners."
The U.S. Marshals said investigators believe incidents involving Wright had been "escalating," alleging that Wright had used a gun in his most recent alleged thefts.
Wright was featured as the Marshals Service's "Fugitive of the Week" in January.
Task force officers arrested Wright in the 11000 block of Dove Avenue after finding him hiding under a pile of insulation.
Wright was transported to Cuyahoga County Jail.
