WOOSTER, Ohio -- U.S. Marshals captured James Bubba Schmidt in West Virginia.
He was located in Gallipolis Ferry, West Virginia after his vehicle was spotted by police.
Police were hunting for a wanted fugitive who was last seen around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday in Wooster.
The manhunt began when officers responded to a Wal-Mart in the 3800 block of Burbank Road in Wooster after wanted fugitive James Bubba Schmidt was spotted.
Upon seeing police, Schmidt allegedly got inside a vehicle with a woman and sped off.
A high-speed chase ensued through Wayne County.
Authorities posted a video on Facebook to report Schmidt opened fire at the pursuing officers, striking several police vehicles.
Schmidt lost control of the vehicle in a field near Orrville, and fled the scene on foot while again allegedly shooting at police.
One officer returned fire, but Schmidt escaped.
Police say Schmidt then broke into a home, stole keys to a vehicle and slammed it through the garage. That vehicle, a 2006 GMC Envoy with "significant damage" to the rear, was recovered Tuesday afternoon in Guernsey County.

Nobody was hurt, and Schmidt was captured by U.S. Marshals in West Virginia, Tuesday evening.
