MANSFIELD, Ohio — Police in Mansfield are investigating after two people were found shot, including one fatally, outside at the entrance to North Lake Park.
According to the Mansfield Police Department, a call came in at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Thursday with a report of a vehicle crash and gunshots at the park's entrance. Upon arrival, officers located a gray Chevrolet Malibu which had struck the stone structure at the entrance to the park. Police then discovered a victim laying next to the driver's door on the ground, plus a deceased victim inside the vehicle.
Both victims appear to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim who was found outside the vehicle was transported to a local hospital. Their status is unknown at this time.
Police believe that the shooting occurred inside the vehicle, however, investigators are still trying to confirm that theory. In the meantime, detectives from the Mansfield Police Department are processing the scene along with the Richland County Coroner. The identity of the deceased victim has not yet been released.
