Indiana State Police: Maple Heights murder suspect arrested following traffic stop

Shannon W. Liccardo, of Twinsburg, had a warrant out for his arrest in connection with an unspecified homicide.

SEYMOUR, Ind. — Indiana State Police say they have arrested a 34-year-old man wanted for murder in Maple Heights.

Troopers say they pulled over a Hyundai for a traffic violation off of Interstate 65 Monday, with the driver initially giving a fake name before identifying himself as Shannon W. Liccardo, of Twinsburg. After officers checked Liccardo's records, they discovered he had a warrant for his arrest in Cuyahoga County, which had been issued last Friday.

The trooper then apprehended Liccardo without incident, and he is currently in custody awaiting extradition back to Ohio. Maple Heights has endured a number of homicides since the start of 2023, although it is unknown at this time which one Liccardo is allegedly connected to.

Cuyahoga County court records show Liccardo previously pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property back in 2008. He was sentenced to six months probation, eventually extended to a full year following a violation.
