MAPLE HEIGHTS, Ohio — The Maple Heights Police Department is investigating after an argument between two women led to both of them being shot in the parking lot of the library.
In a release, police say they received several calls reporting two women arguing in the parking lot of the Maple Heights Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library at approximately 3:20 p.m.
Maple Heights Police Chief Todd Hansen tells 3News that the argument escalated into one of the women pulling out a gun. When officers arrived at the scene, they found that both a 20-year-old woman -- and a 22-year-old woman -- had gunshot wounds.
The 20-year-old woman was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, while the other woman was first taken to Cleveland Clinic - Marymount Hospital before being transferred to MetroHealth.
"Their identities are not being released at this time and their current condition is unknown," police added in the release.
Officers did recover a gun at the scene.
