HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ohio — On Tuesday, the Highland Heights Police Department announced the arrest of a Mayfield City Schools employee in connection to recent allegations of misconduct toward students.
Daniel Allen Carlson was charged with pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, a second-degree felony. Carlson is currently being held at the Highland Heights Police Department while he awaits arraignment.
According to a police release, an investigation first began after officials received a claim on Saturday, May 29, alleging that a Mayfield school district employee was acting in an inappropriate manner.
The employee, now identified as Carlson, was accused of using the internet for misconduct towards students.
After an investigation by the Highland Heights Police Department, Carlson was arrested and charged. At this time, police believe the misconduct was only conducted over the internet.
Police say that the matter remains under investigation at this time. Mayfield City Schools later released a statement confirming Carlson's arrest and his former employment as a middle school teacher and high school girls track coach, adding he offered his resignation last Wednesday and the school board accepted it Tuesday.
