MONTVILLE, Ohio — The suspect who is accused of robbing a Huntington Bank in Montville Township while threatening a mass shooting last summer, has finally been captured.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the Montville Police Department announced that 44-year-old Timothy James Arnold of Cincinnati was arrested last month by police in Lewisburg for robbing a bank in the southern Ohio village.
Arnold was traced back to a robbery in Montville Township that took place on July 7, 2022 at the Huntington Bank on Medina Road. Police say a man entered the bank just after 10 a.m. and handed the teller a note stating that a mass shooting would occur if she did not hand over large bills.
The suspect left the bank with $70 in cash.
Montville police officials worked with members of the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification, along with investigators from Madison and Preble counties, where similar robberies had occurred with a suspect matching Arnold's description.
Arnold was linked to the robbery in Montville Township as well as one that took place on the day before at a Chase Bank in Madison County. Officials say Arnold is also suspected of being involved in three bank robberies in Indianapolis that took place in 2021 and 2022.
Montville police say Arnold is in custody in Preble County. A local warrant has been issued for his arrest for the Huntington Bank robbery as well.
