New details emerge after Mansfield Halloween Airbnb party shooting where 2 teens were killed, 4 injured

Up to 50 people attended the party on Friday in Mansfield. Police are still trying to identify suspects.

MANSFIELD, Ohio — Mansfield police are continuing to investigate the shooting that killed two teens and injured four others on Friday night.

It's a heartbreaking loss for this community. You can still see three bullet holes through the front door.

Police confirmed on Monday that the house in the 800 block of Ferndale Road that hosted the Halloween party was an Airbnb rental. Up to 50 people were inside the home at the time of the shooting, which took place at approximately 11:40 p.m.

A 17 and 18-year-old were found dead inside the home. The four other teens that were shot ranged in age from 14-19 years old. One of the four that were hit walked away thanks to their phone, which helped stop the bullet.

Police says guns and drugs were collected by officers as they searched for evidence. Police don't know who they belong to or how many suspects they are looking for.

"I haven't seen anything like this in my time here," said Mansfield Police Department Lt. Robert J. Skropits.

Anyone with information on the suspects is asked to contact Det. Sgt. Jered Kingsborough at 419-755-9729 or Det. Korey Kaufman at 419-755-9748.

“We are asking for the help of the community in identifying the suspects in these heinous crimes,” Skropits added.

Investigators have been in contact with Mansfield City Schools as they work to track down exactly which students were at the party. 3News did confirm with the district that at least some of those shot went to Mansfield High School.

Meanwhile, Mansfield City Schools observed a two-hour delay Monday, enabling its administrative team to meet with staff, school counselors, and grief care experts from Catalyst Life Services and A Beautiful Mind.

"The well-being of our students and staff is our top priority. We took this extra time to come together and prepare, so we could help to provide the best support possible for our students and staff as they arrived at school during this difficult period of grief and loss," the district said in a statement.
