The Olmsted Township Police Department is investigating incidents of criminal mischief that took place in the early morning hours of Sunday, March 14.
The incidents include a dumpster fire at the middle and high school on Bagley Road and the vandalism of several homes, including a swastika, in the Glenbrook- Skyline neighborhood.
In one instance, in an image provided by police, the words " Nazis live here" are written on a home with what appears to be red spray paint.
Officials believe the two afore mentioned incidents being investigated are connected.
“In addition to the ordinary vandalism charge, the suspect(s) may face more severe penalties under the Township’s Resolution prohibiting the display of historically intimidating objects or images," said Chief Matt Vanyo of the Olmsted Township Police Department. " We take this matter very seriously and are actively investigating and have persons of interest.”
According to a press release, once identified, the suspect or suspects will be subject to " every action allowed under the law to ensure that these criminals face justice." the department said in a press release.
“The Olmsted Township community does not tolerate such violence and intimidation where our residents live, work, and travel. The safety and welfare of our residents is paramount and we will get to the bottom of this quickly,” said Trustee Lisa Zver.
A reward of up to $1000.00 is being offered for information leading to a charge and conviction.
Anyone with information regarding these acts or a potential suspect are asked to contact authorities at 440.235.3335 and confidentially provide information.
