BRUNSWICK, Ohio — A 43-year-old man was arrested in Brunswick last month after travelling from Oregon in an effort to locate and meet a local female child, the Brunswick Division of Police said Thursday.
According to police, Timothy A. Nielsen was arrested on July 28 after he was reported for suspicious activity. He was found to have been stalking a child whom police described as a "juvenile female."
The underage alleged victim was not identified by police.
An investigation revealed that Nielsen had followed and attempted to make contact with the girl on several social media platforms and that he had travelled to Brunswick from his home in Gresham, Ore. to try to meet her.
Nielsen was charged with menacing by stalking and importuning and is in the Medina County Jail.
After the troubling incident, police are asking parents to keep an eye on suspicious social media activity involving their children.
