The Cleveland Division of Police is investigating the fatal drive-by shooting of a 25-year-old man on the city's east side.
The shooting happened at around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday evening at the area of East 153rd Street and Bartlett Avenue. Police found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds on the back porch of a house on Bartlett Avenue. EMS transported the man to University Hospitals, where he was pronounced dead.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the victim as 25-year-old Demetrius Compton of Cleveland.
Preliminary investigation by homicide detectives revealed that Compton was walking westbound on Bartlett Ave. when a car also going westbound fired shots at him. Compton left to the rear of a house, where he collapsed. The suspect vehicle fled the scene.
A person of interest has not yet been identified and there is no description yet of the suspect vehicle. The investigation remains ongoing. If you have any information about this incident, please contact the Cleveland Division of Police.
