2 suspects arrested after shots fired at Cleveland Clinic, stolen car crash

CLEVELAND — Police in University Circle are investigating a report of shots fired near Cleveland Clinic that turned into the pursuit of a stolen car with a pair of suspects arrested on Tuesday.

University Circle police officials say the incident happened at around 2 p.m. Officers were in the area of E. 101st Street in connection to a shots-fired call at Cleveland Clinic. A car was seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed, pursued by the University Circle Police Department. 

The car was reported as a stolen Kia. 

After a short pursuit, the stolen Kia eventually crashed into another vehicle at East 101st Street and Chester Avenue. Four people fled the Kia; two of them were apprehended and arrested by police. Officers also recovered a pair of handguns in connection with the incident. 

The driver of the vehicle which was struck was taken to the hospital as a precaution, but did not appear to sustain any injuries. 

Police are still looking for the other two occupants of the stolen Kia. Anyone with additional information is asked to call the University Circle Police Department at 216-791-1234.
