Reward increased in unsolved Rocky River Reservation murders

Katherine Brown and Carnell Sledge were shot and killed June 4.

FAIRVIEW PARK, Ohio — The Cleveland Division of the FBI on Monday announced an increase in reward money available for information in a pair of murders that occurred at the Rocky River Reservation in June.

The FBI has increased the reward from $20,000 to $25,000. Crime Stoppers of Cuyahoga County is also offering a $5,000 reward.

Katherine Brown, 33, and Carnell Sledge, 40, were shot and killed just after 5 p.m. while sitting on a park bench June 4. The pair was found by kayakers near a pull-off parking lot north of the Lorain Road bridge.

The FBI says it has received numerous tips, but no suspects have been identified.

Authorities have encouraged anyone who was in that area of the park that evening to come forward, noting that the park was full of activity as temperatures were in the mid-70s.

“Someone in the public holds the vital piece of information needed to provide Kate and Carnell’s families an answer. If you have information regarding these unsolved murders, please contact law enforcement immediately. The families and the community need closure,” said Eric B. Smith, Special Agent in Charge.
