CLEVELAND — The driver accused of fatally striking a woman in Shelby and driving away from the scene was arrested Tuesday, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
Kaleb Fisher, 24, is facing felony charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and tampering with evidence. Authorities identified Fisher as a potential suspect after receiving "multiple tips" from the public that were "instrumental" in the investigation, the highway patrol said.
According to officials, 61-year-old Barbara Warner was walking on Mickey Road when she was hit by a car near Martin Drive North around 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The car did not stop, troopers said. Warner later died at a Shelby hospital.
State authorities did not initially offer any information regarding possible suspects or what kind of car they may have been driving. According to the OSHP, the tips from the public helped troopers determine Warner was allegedly hit by a Ford Edge driven by Fisher.
