A spokesperson for Summit Metro Parks says two men threw an unknown substance on the victim's legs while she was on the Chippewa Trail.

NORTON, Ohio — Authorities are searching for two suspects who are wanted in connection with a weekend attack on a female at the Chippewa Trail at Silver Creek Metro Park in Norton.

A spokesperson for Summit Metro Parks tells 3News the incident happened Sunday as two men “quickly approached and threw an unknown substance” on the victim’s legs, which “caused severe burns after combusting.”

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment. Her age was not provided.

“Summit Metro Parks rangers are working closely with Norton Police Department on this case,” according to the spokesperson.

Anybody with information is asked to contact the Summit County Metro Parks Ranger Lt. Josh Hamblen at JHamblen@summitmetroparks.org.

“We are keeping the victim in our thoughts as she heals from this traumatic incident,” the spokesperson said. “This type of attack is incredibly uncommon within Summit Metro Parks. Park visitors are encouraged to remain aware of surroundings and follow the guidance of ‘see something, say something’ when in the parks.”
