COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man has been charged with shooting two people in southeast Columbus on Sunday.
Columbus police officers were called to an apartment complex on Brandy Drive around 6:45 p.m. for a reported shooting.
Court documents say Antonio Williams went to the victim’s apartment and kicked his door open with a handgun drawn.
The victim tried to close the door, but Johnson allegedly fired his gun multiple times through the door, striking the victim in the leg and upper back.
An incident report says the victim escaped through the window and was running in the area of Laraine Court before he collapsed. Medics found him and took him to Mount Carmel East hospital in critical condition, but has since stabilized.
People in a nearby apartment said they saw smoke coming from under the door of the victim’s apartment, similar to smoke being fired from a gun. One man in the apartment next door was shot while he was in his bathroom, according to an incident report. He was taken to a hospital with his condition being described as stable.
A witness said she saw the victim jump out of the apartment window and return fire at Williams. Court records say Williams was shot in the leg.
Williams has been charged with felonious assault and improperly discharging a firearm into a habitation.
