PLAIN, Ohio — A Stark County man has officially been charged with murder following the disappearance and death of his girlfriend last week.
The Stark County Sheriff's Office says 26-year-old Sean Goe is accused of murder, abuse of a corpse, domestic violence, and tampering with evidence in connection with the alleged homicide of 24-year-old Raychel Sheridan. Sheridan was reported missing on Tuesday, with her body being found less than 24 hours later.
According to officials, deputies were called to the 4100 block of Orchard Dale Drive Northwest in Plain Township regarding Sheridan's disappearance, and while searching the area they spotted Goe driving Sheridan's maroon Jeep Liberty. After stopping the car, the officers briefly made contact with Goe before he ran away.
As the investigation continued, authorities claim "evidence was recovered indicating foul play" inside the apartment Sheridan and Goe both shared in Plain Township. Detectives believe Sheridan was killed inside the apartment, and just before 9:30 a.m. Wednesday sanitation workers found her corpse in a Canton park.
Deputies had captured Goe hours before that on separate charges of burglary, grand theft of a firearm and domestic violence involving Sheridan.
Goe's bond was set at $1 million after he pleaded not guilty to the charges during his arraignment in Canton Municipal Court on Tuesday morning. His next court date is July 11 at 10:30 a.m.
"Our heart goes out to the community, the family for this loss. It's another tragic death that certainly is unfortunate to our community and we like to think is certainly preventable," Stark County Sheriff George T. Meier said at a Wednesday press conference announcing Sheridan's death. "Domestic violence is a horrible cycle and folks that are caught in that cycle need to know that there is help out there."
