CLEVELAND — State and federal officials have arrested numerous fugitives and seized several guns following a standoff in Cleveland Wednesday.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force as well as the Ohio State Highway Patrol initially made an attempt to arrest 35-year-old Michael Cullen at a Seymour Avenue home. Cullen was wanted for a parole violation related to weapons and drug crimes, but after authorities say they knocked on the door and announced their presence, several other people fled the house and said Cullen had barricaded himself inside.
An hours-long stalemate ensued, with Cullen speaking with crisis negotiators. Eventually, Cullen surrendered and was taken into custody, with three handguns and an AR-15 rifle being recovered from inside.
In addition, officials arrested the following people, whom they claim were not the initial targets of the investigation:
- Emma Raifsnyder, 20 — wanted in Cuyahoga County for improperly handling a firearm inside a vehicle
- Jessie Richmond, 42 — wanted in Strongsville for receiving stolen property
- Anthony Torres, 33 — wanted in Cuyahoga County for burglary and robbery
- Candy Wilson, 39 — wanted in Cuyahoga County for receiving stolen property, breaking and entering, and drug charges
- Glen Wilson, 42 — wanted in Cuyahoga County for violating probation following drug offenses
"We are thankful for our partnership with the Ohio State Highway Patrol and their Special Response Team," U.S. Marshal Pete Elliot said in a statement. "With their assistance today, we were able to take several dangerous fugitives off the street."
Potential additional charges against the suspects have not been announced.
