According to Streetsboro Police Chief Patricia Wain, the incident happened at around 12:30 p.m. Shelby Bowen, driving a 2014 Ford Fusion, apparently saw an on-duty Streetsboro police officer heading east on State Route 303. Police believe Bowen intentionally cut through side streets to intercept the officer as he moved north on Page Road with the intent of crashing into the police car.

Bowen's speeds were estimated at two to three times the speed limit when she ran a stop sign at the intersection of Root and Page. She narrowly missed the police car, went over a driveway, drainage ditch, and across a yard before striking a pine tree and a house. The house in the 9300 block of Page was empty when Bowen's car struck it. Police say the house suffered "moderate damage," while Bowen's car had "significant front-end damage" and was impounded at the scene.

Police say Bowen has been charged with felonious assault on a police officer, a first-degree felony. Her motives remain unknown. She was booked at the Streetsboro Police Department before being transported to the Portage County Jail, pending arraignment.
