CLEVELAND — The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force has arrested a man wanted in the attack of two women in Tremont and the assault of a woman in Cleveland, early Monday morning.
Kevin Ballard, 27, was taken into custody at a bus stop on Euclid Avenue near Green Road in Cleveland. He attempted to flee the scene, but was taken into custody after being bitten by a K-9 officer.
“A dangerous fugitive is now behind bars after weeks of hard work by our Task Force members. Cleveland is a safer place today now that Ballard is in custody,” said U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott
Ballard was wanted by Cleveland Police for aggravated rape and burglary. He was also wanted by the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for a parole violation.
According to police, Ballard allegedly attached two women on October 4 within minutes of each other in Cleveland's Tremont neighborhood. Ballard, then went on to sexually assault a woman later in the day at the Target located on West 117th Street, police report.
The investigation into Ballard’s whereabouts was turned over to the NOVFTF in October. The NOVFTF followed up on numerous leads, conducted dozens of interviews, and featured Ballard as the Fugitive of the Week.
Ballard was just released from prison on September 25.
