SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio — A Cleveland man is facing multiple felony charges in connection with an incident that ended with him being shot by Shaker Heights police.
While he has not yet been officially indicted in court, authorities confirm 31-year-old Floyd Robinson is currently accused of the following offenses:
- Receiving stolen property
- Fleeing/eluding a police officer
- Aggravated vehicular assault
- Felonious assault of a police officer with a gun
- Having a weapon under disability
Back on Oct. 21, authorities attempted to pull Robinson over when they realized the vehicle he was driving was reported stolen out of Painesville. He subsequently led officers on an apparent chase that ended with him crashing into another vehicle and running on foot towards Shaker Heights High School.
As Robinson moved near the school's front entrance, body camera video shows two officers and their canine partner chasing him, shouting repeatedly for him to drop the weapon. The officers can be heard screaming, "Get on the ground! Drop it! Drop the gun! Drop it or I will shoot you!"
Robinson moved away from the building, but the footage shows him pointing the firearm directly at police, who subsequently shot him. The cops on scene tended to his injuries while the school was briefly placed on lockdown.
Classes were not in session that day, but several staff members were inside the facility, with some calling 911 in panic. Robinson was later rushed to a local hospital and "sedated," with his exact condition still unknown.
According to Cuyahoga County court records, Robinson sports previous guilty pleas for stalking, weapons, and drug charges, and is also currently facing a potential trial for allegedly assaulting two women back in September. Due to his prior history, he is not legally allowed to own or possess a gun.
Per department protocol, the officer who shot Robinson has been placed on administrative leave while the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation conducts an inquiry at the request of the city.
