Teen boy dies after being shot in the head in Cleveland's Central neighborhood

Another boy was taken to the hospital with an injury to his hand.

CLEVELAND — A teenager is dead and another injured following a shooting in Cleveland's Central neighborhood Friday night.

According to police, the shooting occurred near the intersection of Urwin Road and Louise Harris Drive around 9 p.m. The 14-year-old boy, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, was apparently shot in the head and died after being taken to MetroHealth Medical Center.

A second boy, said to be 15 years old, was also taken to Metro but in stable condition with a gunshot would to his hand. 

Gunfire also hit a vehicle from the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority Police Department. The officers were not injured. 

On Saturday evening, Cleveland Police reported that a man was taken into custody in the King Kennedy Estates for Having Weapons While Under Disability. It is unknown if he is the shooter and he has not been charged in the homicide. Detectives continue to investigate.
